In AB's, the whole point is trying to gain the faction for your side, however, you only get 1 faction per kill, yet 6 balthazar faction, which seems a bit ludicrous

Wouldn't it make more sense to get 2 or 3 faction per kill instead? as that would also help even if you lose, as it may only be a few kills, but that can mean the difference between having the requisite 5k, or having to AB again, and the long wait often involved, or go to FA or jade quarry instead (even though quarry is dead essentially)

First time in Cantha? There is no requisite 5k unless you're planning to donate and hold a town, in which case having to do another AB really doesn't matter.

Plus, I remember it being only 3 balth faction, and everyone whined about it, so they doubled the amount. Maybe if everyone keeps whining, Anet will reward 20 luxon/kurz and 500 balth faction a kill. Not...

You already get 2 x number of points at the end of a match, so even the losing team can get 800-900 faction as long as it's a close match.

You dont get alot of Balthazar faction in Alliance battles compared to alliance faction. Infact, about half as much. Perhaps less.

I think the 5k thing you are refering to is the 10k thing that you have to get before you can do the first alliance based missions.

I just wanna point out that since they changed the faction points in AB, people have started too leave the map if team is on loseing side. Which makes it even harder for rest of team and spoiling the fun. I have filled my bar and I am never gonna do anymore AB cause whats the use? In partymembers list u are all alone anyway and u gain like 40-200 factions from loseing meaning its really pointless anyway. Now I know some will say "Start winning insted stupid", but its kinda hard too change the tide of battle when you are all alone in your party and the other parties probobly has same problem. So winning side has 12 and the loseing side has 6 at best. Fortunatly I wasnt so fond of PVP but AB made it fun, but it seems its back too PVE and THK again.

i came here looking for a post similar to this and was actually somewhat surprised to see no one else had made mention of it. i'm in a pvp-focused guild and what we do depends on how many we have on. with 7 or 8 we gvg, 5 or 6 we HA, and 4 or less we AB. or we did, until the recent faction changes. things are exactly as merlin stated. it's basically a race to which team gets 100 points first. at that point, players on the losing team can't leave the game fast enough. it seems like most people aren't interested in the <200 faction they'd be getting for the loss. for those of us that do stay to the end to battle 6 on 12 simply because we prefer that to waiting another 15 minutes to get in, there is little reward for being "active" players.

we have been ABers since factions came out and this is the first time we've totally lost interest in doing it anymore. the wait times have always been an annoyance of sorts but to us and many others it was worth the rewards - both in the form of faction and the lightheartedness of random, large-scale pvp. all of that has disappeared in the past few days, except the wait time. it's no longer worth it. the changes only reward the team that gets the lead in the first minute or two of play. it doesn't reward active play anymore than before. more than anything, it penalizes players hoping to come from behind as their teammates leave the game and they are left with only a very low number of faction points to show for their effort.

there were certainly other ways to take care of afkers in AB. other than that issue, alliance battles were surprisingly balanced most of the time given the setup. we feel like this new change was not well-planned and the end result will be detrimental to the AB community just as going to 6v6 in HA was for it. the players who do enjoy AB are not near as vocal about it though, and we're worried that these concerns will not be addressed. hopefully something can be done to remedy this.

I think having Anet only gibe 1 faction per kill as you do get ( if you win that is) +- 1500faction at the end of the match so in order to make sure that you don't earn faction super (and I know people fff) fast they only provide 1 kurizkc/luxon faction per kill, and for the balthazaar faction, as the second poster mentioned people complained about only 3 balth factions per kill so they raised it, which i suppose is kind of justified as it is still pvp after all and you need to earn at least a "moderate" amount of balth faction. O well with all the new ab rules implemented I don't think too many people care about the points per kill rather the end faction gain, o well, at least life carries on I guess.
